Chianina Classica

Chianina is a pearl-white breed of cattle, which has been cultivated for centuries in the natural biotope of the Chiana valley. This valley lies in Central Italy and stretches mainly from Tuscany to neighbouring Umbria , from Arezzo in the north to Chiusi in the south. The Chianina breed, which derives her name from the Chiana river running through the Valdichiana, has a tight bond with its biotope and is deeply rooted in Tuscan folklore.

Since ancient times the animal used to work the land. These days the animal is being bred for her hormone-free meat, from which the famous bistecca fiorentina is made, and which is praised for its rich and delicious taste. The high quality is obtained by strict breeding methods and the special care and devotion of the farmers. Thanks to these high standards the cattle have been spared hormone scandals and mad cow disease.
