Who we are...

We are four journalism students and two communication students from the Catholic College Mechelen and we have been for a time of 13 weeks (the 28th of January till the 29th of April) in Bettolle (Toscany, Italy) for our internship. The ‘Amici della Chianina’ asked us to produce an intercultural information campaign and our teacher Annet Daems was in charge for the coordination. The project was financially supported by the Leonardo Da Vinci Mobility program of the European Commission.

Students of online journalism Nathalie Dolmans and Wendy Scheppers wrote articles and built an entire website, graphically and technically. Student of print journalism Sofie Beirens worked on an extended research file concerning the quality race and wrote also many articles. Radio and tv – student Mathias Gullentops was our interpreter, joined in the interviews, wrote some articles and made the movies for the site.

Student of communication Lieven Serneels was responsible for the creative part; he took care of the advancement and implementation of the Chianina information campaign. Student of event management Michaël Van Achter looked after the press map and was in charge for sponsors. His contribution during the internship was for the yearly event “La Valle del Gigante Bianco”.

This website has been made to tell human-interest stories from the neighborhood. In this way they can inform about the exceptional quality and exclusivity of the Chianina breed.
